This was done with absolutely *zero* advance written notice, *zero* discharge paperwork, and *zero* legal due process, which is a direct violation of federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations and Georgia state bed-hold laws. They waited until right around the 20-day Medicare mark to fabricate a medical emergency to dump a vulnerable, bedridden patient who still completely qualifies for skilled care.
Fabricating a reason to send a patient out and then refusing to accept them back is patient dumping, plain and simple. Official complaints have been logged with Georgia Healthcare Facility Regulation and the Ombudsman. Avoid this facility if you want your loved one to be treated safely, legally, and ethically. I am beyond disgusted with Cumming Health and Rehab.
The administrative staff—specifically Shawntae, the Social Services Director, and Tiffany, the Admissions Director—are the absolute worst to deal with. They are completely unfriendly and uncouth and deceitful and they make what is already a stressful situation an absolute nightmare. I say this as someone whose mother was unfortunately at Cumming Health and Rehab. Look elsewhere. Please.
